Age Concern Hamilton

Age Concern Hamilton provide direct services, information and referral service which empower older people to make their own choices and decisions. All services are free and confidential.  We provide regular learning opportunities for older people with workshops, seminars and education programmes.

These include weekly education seminars on a range of topics, Through Other Eyes workshops exploring the challenges which may come with age, Health Promotion training with health professionals and other agencies. Our other services include: Accredited Visiting, Shopping Service,  Elder Abuse & Neglect Prevention, Fieldworker Service, Active Age on Air community radio programme, resources for older people, Health Promotion courses and a quarterly newsletter.

Arthritis Foundation Waikato Division

Arthritis New Zealand's national office is based in Wellington but delivery of services is primarily through our four regions, 22 service centres and local branches and support groups around the country.

Each service centre provides a range of services which include:

  • Arthritis Educators who provide personal support, education, advice and liason with other providers

  • Support groups - regular meetings & social events in many locations or for specialised needs eg lupus support, craft groups etc...

  • Exercise and hydrotherapy classes.

  • Educational resources and forums.

  • Self management for chronic conditions. Six week courses which assist people manage their condition more successfully.

  • A range of resources, aids and information.

  • Mobility transport vouchers.

  • Some services are available only to members, but our arthritis educator service and information leaflets are freely available.
