Have your save on the MMP voting system which is now under review. You can obtain a copy of the submissions guide by phone 0800 36 76 56 or going online to www.mmpreview.org.nz.  Submissions are to be made in writing by post or email.  Submissions close on the 31 May 2012. A proposal paper will then be released in August and again they will seek submissions to that until 7 September.  The final report will be presented to Parliament in October.

New Figures Show Older People Significant Portion of Society

Age Concern New Zealand says new figures show the significant portion of society older people make up. The figures, released yesterday by Statistics New Zealand show those over 80 are the fastest growing age-group with the age group growing at about four times the rate of 20 years ago. There are presently more than 160,000 New Zealanders aged over 80 but Statistics New Zealand estimates this number could reach half a million by 2050.
